A dental bridge is a permanent replacement for one or more missing teeth and as the name implies, is used to ‘bridge the gap’ between the remaining adjacent teeth. A fixed bridge is ideal when natural teeth either side of the gap are strong and healthy and restores aesthetics, function and the ‘bite’.

A dental bridge anchors onto adjacent teeth for support and stability. Often, teeth next to the space shift into the gap and alter the way the upper and lower teeth bite together. This can lead to gaps between other teeth developing and food packing occurring which causes both decay and gum disease. A dental bridge can stop this from happening and is a long-lasting solution to missing tooth worries.

As with crowns, bridges are made from various materials. The procedure is slightly more complex as bridgework often involves preparation of the adjacent natural teeth, in order to support the missing teeth.
